How to Take It
  • Formulations: It is available as either an immediate-release (IR) tablet or an extended-release (XR) capsule.
  • Typical Use: A 10 mg dose is often used as an initial starting dose for adolescents and adults, or as an incremental step in a titration schedule monitored by a doctor.
  • Effect Duration: Immediate-release peaks in about 3 hours and lasts 4 to 6 hours, while extended-release releases steadily throughout the day, providing effects for about 10 to 12 hours.
  • Always follow the specific instructions on your prescription label.
  • Swallow tablets and extended-release capsules whole without chewing or crushing them. XR capsules can be opened and sprinkled on applesauce if swallowing is difficult.
  • Take the first dose early in the day (upon awakening) to prevent insomnia.
